Buried water service lines between the municipal curb meter and your foundation can break due to soil movement, corrosion, or ground shifting. We locate buried pipe leaks so excavation can be targeted rather than trenching across an entire yard.
Underground leaks remain hidden below topsoil, but often produce secondary symptoms.
Unexplained wet, muddy spots or unusually rapid grass growth along the underground path between the curb meter and your foundation during dry weather.
When an exterior main supply line fractures, pressurized water flows continuously into the surrounding earth, resulting in dramatic billing increases.
A noticeable decrease in water volume across your household fixtures can indicate water is escaping through a major underground service line breach.
We investigate private buried domestic water supply pipes running from the municipal water utility connection (curb stop valve or pit meter) to the building foundation shutoff valve.
Underground acoustic and electronic locating relies on pipe depth, soil composition, water pressure, and pipe material (copper, lead, galvanized, PVC, or poly). Saturated ground, heavy background traffic noise, or non-metallic pipes without tracer wires can present diagnostic challenges. Locating identifies the approximate point of sound or pressure loss to narrow down excavation, but does not eliminate the need to dig to access the pipe.
Please note: We provide diagnostic locating services only. We do not excavate yards, dig trenches, replace service lines, or provide plumbing repair quotes. Once our diagnostic markings are placed on the ground surface, you must engage a licensed excavation or plumbing contractor to excavate and repair the line.
Diagnostic fees for underground water line locating depend on property size, length of the service lateral from the curb, surface cover (soil vs. concrete/asphalt), and travel distance in New Jersey. Pricing is discussed directly during scheduling.
